Distance Sessions

While all Reiki practitioners are taught to perform distance sessions by either writing a person’s name on an index card, so to “hold” a person in their hands, or to place their hands on a stuffed animal (like a bear) to work on the person during the session, Megan has developed her own variation. Megan conducts the distance session by drawing pictures while working with a person (loved one, pet, place or event). Initially this was to help Megan stay focused on a person and eliminate distractions but it resulted in something much more wonderful when she started to share the pictures with those that she had been working on. learn more..

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by the “laying on of hands.” It is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through all living things and is what causes us to be alive. When a person’s “life force energy” is low then we are more inclined to get sick or feel stress. When it’s high we are more capable of being healthy and happy.

There are many benefits to Reiki. Reiki energy allows muscles to relax and therefore increase blood flow through the body helping to speed up the body’s natural healing process. Reiki helps reduce stress, tension, headaches, insomnia, a nervous or upset stomach, general body aches, sprains and other minor conditions.

At times a client may even express miraculous results especially with psychological healing. Reiki helps one to release anger, fear, worry, sadness and other unhealthy feelings or emotions while replacing them with self-worth, confidence, joy, happiness and peace.

A Reiki session typically lasts from 45 – 60 minutes. A client lies fully clothed on a massage table while a Reiki practitioner places his/her hands at various locations around the client’s head, shoulders, abdomen, legs and feet. Tissue is not manipulated as the practitioner’s hands are held at each location with either a gentle touch or by hovering slightly above the client’s body. Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client’s body and energy field. A Reiki session feels warm, safe and tranquil creating the perfect environment necessary to promote a body’s natural healing ability.*

*Reiki is an excellent complement to traditional medical practices as it is used in many hospitals but is not intended to replace them. Please consult your Medical Physician prior to scheduling a session.
